Howson Tattersall Private Asset Management (HTPAM) traces its roots back to 1962, when the company was formed to serve private clients. Over the years the company has evolved and grown into a fully integrated investment firm serving individual and institutional investors.

During the 1980s, Bob Tattersall and Rick Howson refined the Howson Tattersall style of management, a value-oriented investment philosophy and process that provides a consistent, statistically grounded approach to the analysis of investment opportunities. For more than a quarter of a century, this proven investment style has provided clients with strong long-term returns with lower-than-average levels of volatility.

In 2008, Howson Tattersall Investment Counsel Limted became a subsidiary of Mackenzie Financial Corporation, which in part of IGM Financial Inc., one of Canada's largest financial services companies and part of Power Financial Corporation group of companies.
